A stern self-portrait by the artist in 3/4 profile, with characteristic tousled hair and expansive eye brows. Inscribed by Flagg, likely in the 1930s, to his friend Willis Birchman: "Bill -- This is what I seemed to look like in a glass about the age of 30 - Monty." In 1937, Flagg appeared in, and contributed an introduction to, Birchman's FACES & FACTS BY AND ABOUT 26 CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS.
