A JOURNAL OF OCCURRENCES AT THE TEMPLE, DURING THE CONFINEMENT OF LOUIS XVI, KING OF FRANCE. By. M. Cléry.

Dublin: Printed for J. Milliken & J. Rice, 1798. [2],149,[3]pp. plus frontis and two plates. Octavo. Extracted from old binding. Faint old stamps of defunct mercantile library, plates somewhat browned and foxed, frontis has crack half-way down the gutter, occasional mild marginal discolorations; just a fair copy. Item #WRCLIT65219

First (?) Dublin printing of this early work by the Jamaica-born future novelist, pamphleteer and anti-Jacobite. Dallas is also remembered for his association with Byron, and as the uncle of the future Vice-President of the U.S., George Mifflin Dallas. An edition was printed in Cork the same year, and ESTC locates one copy of another Dublin edition under the same imprint as here, but with illogical pagination. All were published the same year as the London edition. ESTC locates seven copies of this edition, four in North America. ESTC N8470.
