LETTERS FROM A FATHER TO HIS SON, ON VARIOUS TOPICS, RELATIVE TO LITERATURE AND THE CONDUCT OF LIFE. WRITTEN IN THE YEARS 1792 AND 1793.

Dublin: [P]rinted by Robert Marchbank, for John Millken, 1795. xi,[1],249,[1]pp. 12mo. Early 20th century library buckram. Faint old stamps and plate of a defunct mercantile library, early ink name on title, occasional minor spotting, crown of spine a bit frayed; just a good, sound copy. Item #WRCLIT62005

First Dublin printing of this popular text, following the London edition by two years. Aikin's ruminations on comportment, patriotism, Pope, spectral appearances and cheap pleasures were widely reprinted, including editions in North America. This edition is surprisingly uncommon: ESTC Online locates six copies, four of them in North America. The dropped 'P' in the imprint is not reflected in the ESTC entry and may simply be an anomaly.
