"The author claims to have resided some years in the valley of east Tennessee...includes numerous statistics, lists the types of occupations that would insure ready employment, gives advice to prospective emigrants" - Clark. It appears that the book was issued to promote the sale of 179 farms in East Tennessee by the East Tennessee Land Company. The large scale map shows the valley of the Tennessee and Holston rivers, with a projected "Branch Railroad to Knoxville" running up the valley. Sanders paid $650 for the Streeter copy in 1967. HOWES S605, "aa." STREETER SALE 1671. CLARK III:239. SABIN 82755.
