First edition, limited to 300 copies. The personal account of Father Brebeuf, Franco-Jesuit Missionary, of his time living among the Hurons. Brebeuf first arrived in Canada with Samuel de Champlain in 1625. He returned in 1633, living and working there for the remainder of his life. His missionary work with the Hurons was considered successful due to his study of their culture and language, easily adapting to the local way of life. He and several other members of the community were captured by the Iroquois in 1649, undergoing lengthy torture before death.
