Gregg was formerly rector of St. David's Church in Cheraw, South Carolina, and later Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church in Texas. His study is still one of the best on the native tribes of the Pedee region of interior South Carolina up into North Carolina, and a thorough history of the early families that settled in the Upper Pedee.
