Father Ore, born in Peru in 1554, was an significant early chronicler of the New World. In this work he describes the hardships encountered by early Franciscan missionaries to Florida, and his text is an important early account of interactions between Europeans and natives in Florida in the sixteenth century. Translated here into English for the first time by Rev. Geiger, when he was still a Ph.D. student at Catholic University.
