Bartlett's most famous work. He visited Canada and the United States on four separate occasions, and the illustrations show many of the principal cities of North America as well as the most famous scenic vistas of the day. The majority of the views are in New York and New England, but Bartlett went as far north as the White Mountains and as far south as Virginia. He found Niagara and the Hudson Valley most suitable for landscape. There are city views in Washington, Saratoga, Boston, New Haven, Baltimore, Rochester, Philadelphia, and New York, among others. A very pretty copy. HOWES B209, "aa." ABBEY 651. CLARK III:256. SABIN 3784.
