Gathers together both speeches of Virginia Congressman John Randolph (of Roanoke) in opposition to the Jefferson administration's proposed Embargo Act against British goods. Formerly the lead supporter of Jefferson's policies in the House of Represenatives, Randolph's opposition to the Embargo was one of his first public acts in opposition to his fellow Virginian and former leader, and emblematic of his support for state over federal sovereignty.
