Scarce Cherokee language imprint from Vinita, where printing began in 1875. The author, Rev. John Edwards, a descendant of Jonathan Edwards, was a Presbyterian missionary to the Choctaw and superintendent of the Wheelock Academy during the early 1860s and mid-1880s. Amory Nelson Chamberlin was an important missionary to the Cherokee and translator and printer of numerous religious pamphlets and hymnbooks in the Cherokee language.
