A self-published work, Beltrami's defense against his critics. This pamphlet is the second such rant by Beltrami. In an earlier pamphlet he responded to criticism leveled against the first edition of his LA DECOUVERTE DES SOURCES DU MISSISSIPPI ET DE LA RIVIERE SANGLANTE DESCRIPTION DU COURS ENTIER DU MISSISSIPPI... (New Orleans, 1824), his account of a voyage to the headwaters of the Mississippi with the Long expedition. Chief among that criticism, which appeared in the QUARTERLY REVIEW, was that Beltrami did not include a map in his narrative. Despite his defiant response, the second edition (London, 1828) included a map. Here Beltrami responds to criticism of a more general nature, dealing with certain minor details of his narrative. Good insight into the explorer's petulant character. Quite rare. Not on OCLC. SABIN 4603 (ref).
