Journal entries by Matt Field, recounting people, places, and events during a trip along the Santa Fe Trail in 1839. The travelling party was made up of eighteen men, American and Mexican. Some of the entries are written in verse, and all appeared originally in the NEW ORLEANS PICAYUNE. Collected by Clyde and Mae Reed Porter, edited, with an introduction and notes by John E. Sunder.
