Marlette's report includes primarily an account of the Northern Boundary Survey, extending as far north as Pilot Knob. He also offers strong criticism on the quality of California mapping, sums up the status of various rail lines through the state, and encourages the development of a county road system. This is the last time the report of the Surveyor-General appeared as an annual report, henceforth being published biannually. NUC 0039424.
