Thomas Orr, born in 1832, travelled first to Iowa with his parents, then to Utah since they were Mormons. This life history contains much genealogical information on the Orr family as well as Orr's stories about traveling and Utah farming. "The life-story of one of the noted argonauts of the Old West. Orr was a member of the Mormon Exodus of 1847 and an early pioneer of California. His narrative gives an account of the winter journey from Nauvoo to Salt Lake in 1847; across the Sierra to California; adventures at the diggings; and his career as freighter, road builder, stage-line operator and rancher" - Eberstadt.
