The author crossed by the Platte route in 1850, making much of the journey in the winter under harrowing circumstances. He later wrote another book with the rather rock 'n' roll title of TRACKS OF A ROLLING STONE. "On this perilous 1850 trip undertaken for sheer adventure by two young English sportsmen, two of their seven companions perished; the survival of any was a miracle" - Howes. MINTZ 100. SABIN 14240.
