Eldridge, the granddaughter of a Narraganset Indian woman and an African chief, was born in Warwick, Rhode Island in 1785. The memoir exposes the cruel injustices experienced by Ms. Eldridge and includes testimonials by friends and acquaintances concerning her right to recover the loss of her life savings and other property.
