Philadelphia. 1800. viii,71pp. Half title. Gathered signatures, stitched as issued. Minor dampstaining in upper forecorner of first few leaves, half title tanned. Else very good, untrimmed. Item #WRCAM20803

A scarce pamphlet issued by one of the commissioners concerning the settlement of pre-Revolutionary debts under the sixth article of Jay's Treaty. The treaty sought to resolve diplomatic issues arising from the 1783 peace treaty, settle commercial problems, and resolve neutral rights issues; but as the present work demonstrates, messy legal cases often resulted. Printed herein is a collection of claims by various British firms concerning monies owing them by United States citizens. The appendix includes select articles from the Treaty, as well as opinions delivered by U.S. Supreme Court and circuit judges respecting relevant cases. EVANS 37428. SABIN 7904.
