First edition of this collection by the great pretender (as a poet, not as a scout), and as usual, inscribed and signed by him. The western plains' most outrageous competition for Edgar Guest and the Sweet Singer of [pick your state]. However, this volumes does contains some prose, including a life sketch of the author and reminiscences of Buffalo Bill. It suffered many reprintings in then obscure corners of the west and Old Northwest, but this original edition no longer leaps with such frequency from the dim recesses of second-hand poetry shelves.
