REMARKS ON THE COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGES OF WHEEL CARRIAGES OF DIFFERENT STRUCTURE AND DRAUGHT.
Anstice, Robert:

Bridgewater: Printed for the Author, by S. Symes, 1790. [2],[5]-68pp. plus eight folding plates, each incorporating two or more figures. Octavo (signed in 4s). Modern quarter calf and boards. Wanting A1 (half-title), scattered foxing, a bit of darkening at edges, but a very good copy. First edition of this uncommon work, dedicated by the author to his Lodge Brethren in Bridgewater, Somerset. Anstice's work is far more a consideration of the physics involved in the motion and stability of wheel carriages than it is a discussion of their actual manufacture. Scarce. ESTC locates ten copies (5 in North America), and ABPC records only two appearances in almost four decades, both of them moderately enthusiastic occasions. ESTC N26268.
