Addressed to [Max] Plowman, then editor of THE ADELPHI, responding to his request that Blunden review something for the December issue: "Cobden-Sanderson are publishing a book called I think 'The Annual' - an anthology & revival of the gift-books of 100 years ago; I'd like that if available. Or 3 or 4 of the most recent war books; or if there's anything outstanding, but I don't think there is....." Blunden ended up reviewing three war books for that issue.
