" A HOME IN A PRAIRIE TOWN" [with:] "A SMALL HOUSE WITH 'LOTS OF ROOM IN IT'," contained in THE LADIES' HOME JOURNAL. XVIII:3 & 8.
Wright, Frank Lloyd:
Philadelphia: Curtis Publishing Company, February & July 1901. Two issues. Folio. Pictorial wrappers. Heavily illustrated. Spine of first volume slightly split toward crown, modest dust soiling, but unusually nice copies. The first appearances of these two contributions by Wright to the "New Series of Model Suburban Homes of Moderate Cost" (#s 5 and 9 in the series - Wright's sole contributions to the series). These plans were represented in the MOMA Retrospective as" revolutionizing the American suburban home and providing direction for the architect's work during the next decade - the horizontal composition of the so-called Prairie House with low overhanging eaves organized around a central vertical element - the fireplace - became the formal program of numerous residential projects." SWEENEY 45 & 46.
