Mexico. Dec. 1796. Broadside, 23 x 16 1/4 inches, in two halves as issued, joined at margins. Folded, a few minor breaks at folds. A very good copy. A very rare and important broadside, printed in Mexico to announce the King of Spain's declaration of war on England as a result of the Treaty of San Ildefonso with France. The decree outlines the causes for the action, including British incursions against Spanish possessions, and forbids all congress between Spain and its colonies, and England and its colonies. Not in Medina.
