Very good. In a cloth clamshell case, leather label. The extremely attractive manuscript watch bill, quarter bill, and additional lists and bills for staffing and sailing the H.M.S. Plantagenet, a seventy-four-gun-rated ship-of-the-line of the Royal Navy (launched 1801, broken up 1817). The watch bills and quarter bills contain the names, quarters, and stations of all officers and men of the ship, elegantly inscribed and organized in several columns, frequently under small, charming ink vignettes, with four elaborate larger ink sketches of royal arms and crests. An additional personnel list shows the crews for each of the ship's six boats, each below a hand-colored flag, all below the French tricolor banner. The lists and bills for making sail, shortening sails, reefing, furling and loosing sails, and mooring and unmooring sails each include charts with numbered angles in three columns and are each headed by a different attractive watercolor of the Plantagenet (each approximately three inches in diameter) in a wide nautical ink vignette. A highly informative and visually splendid manuscript from the Royal Navy in the early 19th century.
