Contemporary ink ownership inscription of John Lambert in outer margin of p.[3]. Edge wear, some soiling to titlepage, scattered foxing, else very good, untrimmed. The sixth annual UNIVERSAL AMERICAN ALMANACK by "Andrew Aguecheek" (the pseudonym is taken from the character in TWELFTH NIGHT), containing a wealth of information and entertainment. In addition to the calendar, the present issue includes tables for calculating meat prices and personal income and expenses, lists of Quaker meetings, fairs, roads from Philadelphia, and North American courts, a "brief chronology" of important events, relating primarily to the New World, and a variety of poetry, maxims, anecdotes, and essays, including a cure for the bite of a viper, a "Jewish Tradition concerning Moses," the story of the Middle Eastern ascetic Barsisa, who succumbed to the devil, and a dialogue in verse between "an old drolling Gentleman with a Carbuncle-Nose, and his merry Tallow fac'd Lady."
