ON THE BORDER WITH CROOK.
Bourke, John G.:
New York. 1902. Portrait. Original decorated cloth. Some slight fraying to spine ends. Hinges a bit shaky, but not cracked. Else clean and very good. With an autograph letter, signed, from Crook to his friend Mr. Fordyce tipped onto front pastedown. The letter, dated at Omaha on the 20 September 1887, expresses Crook's regret that he can't keep a date, but sets forth his hopes for a future meeting, making an invitation in return. Second edition, after the first of 1891. One of the most acclaimed works on the Indian wars by an army officer and ethnologist who served on Crook's staff. "A truly great book, on both the Apaches and the Arizona frontier" - Dobie. GRAFF 367. HOWES B654. RADER 426. DOBIE, p.32.
