John R. Bartlett's copy, with his signature on the front wrapper, and a presentation inscription from the author: "...with the compliments of C.P. Clever." Clever was a delegate to Congress from New Mexico. In this interesting pamphlet he devotes much space to a description of the mineral resources of New Mexico, finally outlining the importance of building a western railroad from Memphis, through New Mexico, terminating in San Diego, California.
