Edinburgh. 1822. viii,330pp. Modern red three quarter calf and cloth, raised bands, leather label. Front board detached. Scattered foxing. Good, untrimmed. Flint travelled from Scotland to New York City, then went to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and points west, including a trip down the Ohio in 1818. He described the professional classes, taverns, small towns, local and national government, slavery, a camp meeting, the panic of 1819, and many details about agriculture" - Clark. "Somewhat critical but, on the whole, as might be suspected from the quotation by Alexander Hamilton on the title-page, favorable" - Graff. HOWES F198. SABIN 24780. BUCK 131. GRAFF 1351. THOMSON 420.
